The city of Pauri is blessed with snow-capped mountains, surrounded with eye-catching natural beauties all over. The city is perched at an elevation of 1814 meters above the level of the sea. It is located on the northern slopes of the Kandoliya Hills. Pauri is the headquarters of Pauri Garhwal district and Garhwal division. Bandar Poonch, Swarga Rohini, Jonli, Gangotri Group, Jogin Group are some most beautiful snow-laden peaks of mighty Himalayas which provide glorious views to visitors from far and wide.

Apart from the snow covered Himalayan peaks, there are many others attractions in and around the Pauri town. The well known temple of Kandoliya is devoted to the Lord Kandoliya, a fold deity situated on the Lansdowne road. At Pauri Kotdwar features the Jwala Shrine is located where pilgrims come in hordes.

When it comes to the weather in Pauri, in the months of winter cold and chilly atmosphere is all around the town. In summers the weather remains pleasant, people can make trips to visit Pauri. While the monsoon calls the heavy rainfall in the region. In summers people should carry cotton and light woolen clothes to protect themselves. In winters, you must need heavy woolen clothes and blankets especially for the children. This city covers an area about 5,230 sq kilo meters.

At this shrine people enjoy the fest Teej every year.The establishment of Kyunkaleswar occurred in the 8th century. This sacred shrine is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Chaukhamba Viewpoint is located at a distance of four kilo meter form Pauri city, presenting the breathtaking location. This is a popular picnic place frequently visited by locals and tourists as well.
